Albin O. Kuhn Library & Gallery

The Jaromir Stephany papers archive, stored in Special Collections at UMBC, contains records relating to Stephany's work as a photographer and educator, as well as his personal papers. Included in this collection are professional and personal correspondence, teaching materials, personal photographs, genealogical records, and files from Stephany's exhibitions. There are also personal writings, interviews of Stephany, and audio-recordings of lectures by other photographers. Please visit personal papers for more information.

The show "Light as Medium: The TOPS Collection" is currently on display at the Tokyo Photographic Art Museum. It will run from Mar. 2 through Jun. 5 2022. This exhibition will showcase work by reknown photographers such as Ansel Adams and Alfred Stieglitz as well as our own esteemed Jaromir Stephany. Tom Beck authored a detailed account of Jaromir Stephany's work begining in the 1950's up until 2010. It is the first and hopefully not the last full account of Jaromir Stephany's incredible jouney from a combat photographer into one of the best known abstract photographers in the world today. Below are just a few of the selected images taken by Roger Miller of Mr. Stephany's retrospective exhibition, which was on display in the Albin O. Kuhn Gallery at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. The exhibtion took place April 5th and ran through June 30th, with a special memorial event to honorate Mr. Stephany who passed away at his home on April 14, 2010 .
